Polygraph Case Study
A food chain suffered large losses especially during weekends - 42 staff underwent periodic polygraph tests; 37 confessed to various transgressions including that staff were paying the driver of a taxi to transport them daily using the clients products as payment.
Result = All staff were dismissed.
June 2009
A large International Retail store were experiencing large quantities of stock losses. We were called in and given a brief to investigate the losses. It was decided to start with Polygraph testing. All the staff from the Branch Manager to the Receiving staff were interviewed. Out of a compliment of 22 staff interviewed , confessions from 10 staff were forthcoming from the Polygraph interviews.
The investigation hi-lited the following;
- Breakdown of systems.
- Security staff involvement.
- Manipulation of CCTV system.
- Cashiers assisting in the illegal removal of Electronic Surveillance Tags.
- Collusion between supervisory staff and normal staff.
- Security staff given gifts by staff to look the other way.
Result = Disciplinary steps were taken against culprits and all 10 staff services were terminated.
Management Information Investigators Case Study
A Service Manager of an up-market car dealership was found to be changing brake discs and pads that were not faulty in order to sell the metal to a scrap dealer. Clients paid for parts they did not receive.
Result = Service Manager dismissed.
CCTV Viewing & Analysis Case Study
CCTV was used to establish if the searching procedures of all staff when they left the premises was being carried out by security staff. It was found that not only was the process being done on a random basis, but that the security staff themselves were stealing.
Result = All involved were dismissed and a claim instituted against the security service provider.
Security Audits Case Study
A large, national security company was found to be supplying un-registered and illegal immigrants to perform security duties. Guards had purchased security certificates without undergoing any form of security training.
Result = The service provider was made to credit the client and the contract was cancelled.
